History worth saving!
For over a century, Coney Island has embodied the American spirit of ingenuity, tenacity, and inclusiveness. The Coney Island Museum is the only accredited institution in the world singularly dedicated to protecting, preserving, and presenting the history of the People's Playground. It houses the world's premier collection of Coney Island photographs, paintings, ephemera, architectural elements, amusement related devices, and vintage signs on view to the public. The Museum's archives are a critical source to researching scholars and its public displays support educators from local schools. The Museum frequently hosts special programming including our popular lecture series, Ask the Experts, which gives the public a chance to interact with artists, authors, professionals, and performers. Every fall, the Museum hosts the annual Coney Island Film festival, a juried three-day festival of works that exhibit Coney Island's independent spirit and irreverent humor.
